Traditional Rice Chocos

Rice Chocos are a breakfast cereal made from rice, shaped into small rings and given a light cocoa coating. Each pack holds 200 g. The rice is milled and the grain is puffed, then mixed so the cocoa sits evenly across every ring. The batch is small, so the texture stays crisp rather than powdery. You get a plain sweetness, nothing sharp. In a Tamil household this works best as a quick morning bowl for children, poured with cold or warm milk. Left a minute, the rings soften a little while still holding their shape. They also travel well in a dabba for an evening snack, eaten dry by the handful. Keep the pack sealed after opening so the crispness lasts, and store it away from damp. A 200 g pack covers several breakfasts for one child.
