Sprouted Black Urad Dal Porridge Mix

Sprouted urad dal porridge. Urad dal is a quiet staple of Tamil cooking and was a regular part of what our grandparents ate. Ours is made from sprouted urad dal with badam, red rice, dry ginger, and cardamom for the aroma. Sprouting before milling is the slower way to do it — three days rather than none — and it is what gives the mix its flavour. How to use: mix two tablespoons into hot water or milk and stir until smooth. Good at breakfast, as an afternoon drink, or as a porridge for children.
